Braun Oral-B Pro 2000 Complete Product Overview
3D Cleaning Action Packs a Powerful Punch against Plaque
The Pro 2000 may be less advanced than Oral-B’s pricier offerings, but still provides patented, highly effective, 3D cleaning action.
A dynamic motor drives the toothbrush head, causing it to oscillate, rotate and pulsate thousands of times per minute – an effect impossible to achieve with a traditional toothbrush.
Superior plaque removal – up to one hundred percent better than can be achieved with manual brushing. 3D cleaning attacks plaque, breaking it apart and sweeping it away.
CrossAction Brush Head Cleans Deep Between Teeth
There’s a good reason that most Oral-B electric toothbrushes ship with round-shaped, dentist-inspired CrossAction brush heads.
CrossAction heads take design cues from professional dental tools, surrounding and individually cleaning each tooth. Circularly arranged bristles, clusters of which are are set at opposing 16-degree angles, are optimized to reach deep between teeth, removing food debris and plaque from the gumline, where ordinary toothbrushes can’t reach.
Plaque produces acids that attack tooth enamel and gum tissue, even causing the bones which support your teeth to decay.
Two Cleaning Modes—Perfect For Everyday Use
Sometimes, simple is good. The Oral-B Pro 2000 electric toothbrush features two cleaning modes: Daily Clean and Gum Care. The former, as its name implies, is great for daily use, and suits the majority of individuals; the latter gently massages and stimulates gum tissue, encouraging blood flow and regrowth through variable-speed oscillation and rotation.
Pressure Sensor Puts an end to Overbrushing
Located at the top of the Oral-B Pro 2000’s handle is a visible pressure sensor – a red band which helpfully illuminates when excess pressure is applied while brushing. “Overbrushing” is a common habit, typically developed over years of manual toothbrush use. (You can tell if you overbrush by looking at the bristles on your toothbrush – if they’re splayed, split or worn down, chances are that you brush with too much pressure.)
Overbrushing doesn’t just prematurely wear down toothbrush heads – it can damage tooth enamel. All the more reason to consider the Pro 2000!
On-Handle Quadpacer Timer For Dentist-Approved Cleaning
Most dentists agree that to brush your teeth for two minutes – a mere 120 seconds – twice a day, every day, is to make a lifelong investment into your oral health. Despite that consensus, most people fall short, while overestimating their time spent brushing. According to research, the average time spent per brushing session was only a little over one minute, though study participants estimated they had brushed for between 130 and 140 seconds.
Fortunately, Oral-B has made it easy to brush for a full, dentist-recommended two minutes. The Pro 2000’s on-handle timer keeps you on track, buzzing to remind you to switch to the next quadrant of your mouth every thirty seconds, ensuring not only an adequately long, but complete, cleaning.
Compatible with a Wide Range of Oral-B Toothbrush Heads
Though most users find the Oral-B CrossAction toothbrush head meets their needs, the Pro 2000 is compatible with eight other brush heads, covering virtually the entire spectrum of requirements. TriZone, Floss Action, 3D White, Precision Clean, Sensitive, Dual Clean, Power Tip and Ortho heads all fit the Pro 2000.
It’s easy to switch brush heads – simply depress the quick-release button located under the toothbrush head, slide the brush head off, and click into place a new brush head.
Oral-B likens this interchangeability to having many toothbrushes for the price of one, and we’re inclined to agree – the relatively low cost of brush heads allows you to determine which ones best suit you, and customize the Pro 2000 accordingly.
Rechargeable Battery for Convenient, Cordless Operation
The Braun Pro 2000’s rechargeable battery provides up to one week of daily use on a single charge. Though some electric toothbrushes have a longer runtime, we never found the Pro 2000’s battery to be lacking, particularly if the toothbrush is set on the convenient charging cradle after each use. The cradle is small – hardly larger than the base of the toothbrush – and takes up very little space on a crowded bathroom counter.
Unobtrusive icons on the toothbrush handle indicate battery charging status.
Ergonomically Designed for Comfort and Ease of Use
If two words could describe the appearance of the Oral-B Pro 2000, they would be “slim” and “trim”. The Pro 2000 sits comfortably in almost any hand – the diameter of the handle makes it easy to wrap one’s fingers around – and the carefully placed, soft-touch rubber sections provide sufficient grippiness. The onboard controls consist of a single power button with good tactility, ensuring trouble-free operation.
Oral-B Pro 2000 Pros and Cons
Affordability. At under £30, the Pro 2000 is one of the most affordably priced electric toothbrushes that doesn’t skimp on quality or essential features. Great value from a trusted brand.
Does everything you need, and nothing you don’t. Sometimes less is more. Case in point—Oral-B’s Pro 2000. Though lacking the additional brushing modes and Bluetooth connectivity found in higher-end models, the Pro 2000 does what it’s designed to do – clean teeth – with a minimum of cost and effort.
Oral-B’s famous 3D cleaning action. Oscillation, rotation and pulsation – the foundation of Oral-B’s dynamic cleaning technology – allow the Pro 2000 to remove up to one hundred percent more plaque than a manual toothbrush.
Also available in pink.
Could charge faster. Some users report that the Pro 2000 recharges slowly. That being said, placing the toothbrush on the charging cradle after each use, and discharging the battery every six months (as per the manufacturer’s recommendation) should minimize any inconvenience arising from a slow-charging battery.
Two-pin shaving plug may not be compatible with all sockets. If your bathroom isn’t outfitted with a two-pin, UK-style shaving socket, you may have to purchase an adapter. However, many electric toothbrushes feature 2-pin plugs—this is not a serious problem, and not unique to the Pro 2000.
Oral B Pro 2000 Review Conclusion
We’re pleased to say that Oral’s lower-priced offering has what it takes to make our list of recommended electric toothbrushes. Despite a few minor caveats, this straightforward, no-frills brush performs admirably, and if you’re new to the world of electric toothbrushes (or simply looking for an affordable model to travel with), the Pro 2000 fits the bill.
